The Solomon Island Eclectus (Eclectus roratus solomonensis) is a subspecies of the Eclectus parrot native to the Solomon Islands and surrounding regions. It is one of the smaller subspecies of Eclectus but retains the striking sexual dimorphism typical of the species.
Physical Description:
- Males: Bright emerald green plumage with a yellow-orange upper beak and a darker lower mandible. They have red patches on their sides and blue flight feathers.
- Females: Rich red head and upper body, with a deep blue chest and belly. Their beak is entirely black. They also have a violet-blue ring around the eyes, which adds to their striking appearance.
